This is for the second new idea.
I wake up to sunlight streaming through my
windows and right into my eyes. I grumble and roll over so that I’m facing the
other way. “Doria, time for school!” I groan and throw my pillow across the
room. “Okay mom!” I yell back. The sun is still in my eyes so I walk, okay
stumble, over to close the curtains. Dust dances around in the sunlight and I
almost feel bad closing the curtains to watch them disappear... almost. My eyes
are half open and stay that way until I get into the shower. The warm water
flows over me and I let out a sigh. I've always loved water. I passed all the
swim lessons when I was around eight or nine so about six or seven years ago. I
pass the mirror which I rarely look into and get dressed. It’s the first day of
my junior year and I went with a safe choice of jean shorts, a blue t-shirt
with a sailboat on it, and white flip flops. I decide to do my hair in a
ponytail which is held back with a silver headband that had a couple of diamond
starfish on the right. I have a five minute war with myself on whether or not I
should look in the mirror and end up sneaking a glance when I walk past. I stop
mid-step and back up slowly. I stare at the girl in the mirror. Who is that? I
mean they’re wearing the same outfit but they can’t possibly be me. “Mom!?” I
scream, my voice turning shrill. “Yes, hon?” “Can you come here for a second?”
“What’s going on?” She asks her voice sounding more concerned this time. “Did
you do something with my hair?” I asked my hands running through my now blue
locks. “No. Why?” She opened the door to my room but I didn't turn around
because something else was happening. An light blue had started from my
fingertips advancing up my arms. I stand in shock as the blue makes swirls and
loops, like when you put ink in water. When my mom turns away from the door to
look at me and she lets out a gasp. I made a huge effort and had my eyes meet
hers. All the color seemed to disappear from her face leaving it a paper white.
‘I-I thought I would have more time,” she stumbled. “What?” I choked out. My
voice snapped her back from the trance she had been in. She rushed to my side
and puts my hair up to her face. The blue had slowly crept up to my shoulders
and I started to panic, my heart pounded hard against my chest. Mom and I watch
as the blue gets to my neck and stops. My mom looked confused when the blue
starts to retreat. When it’s completely gone I let out a deep breath. What was
going on?
Ooooo.... i like this one!! :) its rele interesting, good choice of words, and it rele shows off the character's personality! :)
